Comment: My sister-in-law gave me a hand crank pasta machine lately and since I had never made pasta before I purchased this book. The rave reviews gave me the impression that I would be able to learn about pasta, how to make pasta, the techniques of making pasta etc...and I was very dissapointed. The book had more recipes in it than it did information about pasta, and the recipes dont even look that great. I made raviolli from the book tonight, first time using the book, and first time making home made pasta, and honestly, had the book provided more information about actually MAKING pasta then I might be more satisfied. I havent found anything better than this book as of yet, but I am incredibly dissapointed. My reccomendation is if your looking for recipes and a brief history about pasta, then this book is great, if your trying to learn how to make pasta, pasta basics, techniques etc...then keep looking.

Summary: Well worth the purchase 2010-05-15
Comment: This book is an absolute MUST HAVE for any pasta kitchen. The book is sturdy. The pages are "thick" and seem to be spill resistant which is good as any cook will know.

It teaches you how to make different types of pasta (I mean from flour, eggs, etc!!) then it shows you how to add color, how to flavor it, etch.

Then you get recipes along with good step-by-step instructions on those as well

If you are looking for a good pasta making book - this is it!

Comment: I never knew that so many different types of pasta existed. With this book you will learn the different types of pasta from around the world; and with pictures and great instructions, how to make them. I recently made the fettucine and it came out great. I could not belive I made pasta, and without a pasta machine/maker. The authors did an exellent job in introducing me to freshly made pasta. Enjoy!!!

Comment: I am very pleased with this book, since not only does it explain how to make fresh pasta at home or how to cook excellent homemade sauces, but it also refers to local Italian or Asian traditions concerning pasta and tells a bit of its history in a very entertaining way. The many illustrations also make it a great present.

Summary: all recipes need tweeking 2010-03-12
Comment: Good service on the delivery of the book. The book itself has nice ideas for sauces and simple pasta dishes. The one problem I have with the book is the pasta recipes, they all come up short on the moisture content within the recipes, and I'm not talking about a tablespoon of water , its more like a half of a cup or in the spatzle recipe a cup. So in each instance I had to play around with the moisture amount to get the desired pasta consistancy.
