Summary: Beautiful photography and yummy recipes 2010-05-23
Comment: I bought this as a gift for my brother who is recently getting into all natural and organic cooking, but I've been a long time reader of Heidi's blog. I have made several of her recipes and always loved them, especially as I am a vegetarian myself. I love the photography in this book and the organization of the recipes as well. Lots of good tips for healthful eating in addition to the recipes. Informative and beautiful.

Summary: Great photos, great ideas, not so great recipes. 2010-03-24
Comment: I wanted to love this book, I really did. The photography is fantastic, and I have been working at incorporating more whole foods into my diet for several years. However, I've tried five or six of the recipes now, and find them to have overly complex steps and produce only mediocre results. I would recommend cookbooks by Lorna Sass (Whole Grains Every Day, Every Way, Lorna Sass' Complete Vegetarian Kitchen: Where Good Flavors and Good Health Meet) or Andrea Chesman (The Roasted Vegetable, The New Vegetarian Grill, Revised Edition: 250 Flame-Kissed Recipes for Fresh, Inspired Meals, 366 Delicious Ways to Cook Rice, Beans, and Grains) instead - much more reliable recipes for whole foods.

Summary: beautiful food ideas, don't agree on all nutrition aspects photography is excellent though 2010-01-22
Comment: Well, my title sums it up basically. First off, to give fair warning, I am not at all a vegetarian, though I do eat a "whole foods" diet, but one inspired by say, Alice Waters, or Sally Fallon, or Julia Child. I appreciate that the author does not promote low-fat vegetarian fare, as I don't believe the saturated fat hype, but was dissapointed by how sugar laden many of Heidi's recipes were. The photography is beautiful, stunning pictures make each page worth a peek even if you're not inclined to try the recipes. I wish that the recipes, in general, had less starches, sugar, and gluten-grains.

Summary: Great cookbook, something different 2010-01-11
Comment: I love this cookbook! I became hooked on Heidi's recipes from her blog (101cookbooks.com) and just had to have her book. Packed with tons of recipes with different ingredients, all natural cooking tips, and beautiful photos, this book is wonderful. Most of the ingerdients are not used by the everyday cook, but if you're trying to utilize more all natural and organic items, give this book a try!
