Summary: Best brewing book I've read 2008-12-20
Comment: Radical Brewing is definitely the most enjoyable and inspiring brewing book that I've read. The author presents a nicely balanced mix of history, humor, obscure facts, essential information and awesome recipes. Plenty of parts of this book are enjoyable to read just for their content even if you aren't a brewer.
For me it is the authors personal writing style that makes the book great. I would reccomend it to all brewers, whether you've been doing it for 50 years or you've never brewed a drop, this book will inspire you to get off your butt and try something interesting, and to learn more than just the basics of the step-by-step process of brewing.
The books attractive visual layout as well as its great content would also make it a reccomendable gift for anyone interested in brewing.

Summary: Interesting read and great history lessons. 2008-10-17
Comment: Tons of great history on beer/brewing. Crazy ingredient ideas & great discussion/explanations on how they affect your brews. I keep re-reading sections all the time. I like how Mosher gives a recipe, but doesn't lecture you on nailing a certain stlye and gives suggestions how to tweak it to your own desires. Screw styles, brew what tastes good to you. This book helps you do that.
This book saved me a lot of time and money by not brewing several batches I probably would not have liked by telling me what ingredients impart to beer. A must read for intermediate homebrewers.

Summary: Great book!! 2008-06-18
Comment: This book is not for someone who's never brewed but if you've done it a few times, this book will get you hooked. The methods, ingredients, and everything else about this makes you want to try brewing in ways you probably wouldn't imagine otherwise.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a little adventure in their brewing.

Summary: Great to see all the possibilities 2008-05-26
Comment: I just started home brewing, and I want more--Randy Mosher's book gives me that. This book gives a full spectrum on brewing, from the history to the chemistry to tons of recipes for creating many different types of beer. This guy has a great sense of humor, and the book is also very visually engaging. This book answered many of my questions about how beer brewing works and what to do and what not to do. Most of the recipes he gives have instructions for beginners and advanced brewers, so this book can definitely "grow" with you. I would suggest brewing a few batches first, before trying the more advanced techniques, and/or purchasing the other books described in these reviews as companions. I was really happy to see that there are so many possibilities for home brew, and the author's enthusiasm motivates me to try them. A great book!
