Product Description

The Margarita. It’s the drink that puts the "happy" in happy hour. A beguiling elixir of tequila, citrus, and sweetness that’s guaranteed to go down easy—and put a smile on your face.

The Classic Margarita—perhaps named after Margarita Sames, or maybe Margarete, a descendent of Ponce de Leon, but do we really care?—is a delectable blend of tequila, simple syrup, Cointreau, and lime and lemon juices. But as cocktail designer extraordinaire Kim Haasarud proves in this fantastic little guide, the Classic is just the starting point for margarita bliss. Open the book, and you’ll discover 101 heavenly margarita recipes—one for every season, every mood, and every occasion.

All your favorite margarita variations are here. You can chill out with a frozen Strawberry Margarita. Get romantic with an exotic Passionfruit Margarita. Or "berry" yourself in the fruity delights of a delicious Raspberry Margarita. But Haasarud also gives you lots of new and exciting margarita choices. You can take a cocktail party to new heights with the sophisticated Sake Margarita. Tame fiery foods with the refreshing Sweet Ginger Margarita. Or finish off a meal with a divine Hazelnut Margarita or an espresso-infused Margarita du Café.

So invite some friends, get out your shaker, and ready the glasses. With a little help from this book, you’ll be in Margaritaville in no time.

Summary: Great recipes to try! 2008-09-24
Comment: Every recipe we've tried from this book has been great. Avacado and cilantro margaritas? Try them, you'll be surprised. The more "normal" fruit and liquor flavored recipes have been very popular with family and friends.

Summary: That frozen concoction that helps me hang on. 2008-03-18
Comment: This is a fun book. Great design and style -- so very true to its subject. The structure is informal to be sure. There's no table of contents or index. The recipes are in no apparent order which would help you to efficiently find any one in particular. But, this book is a margarita for the eyes. The design, colors, type and photography all convey the feeling of cool, laid-back, just-a-little-bit-tipsy relaxation. Flipping through its pages makes me feel almost as good as drinking one of its prescribed creations. And, oh yea, there really are some exciting recipes and loads of them. I'm going to have a blast this summer trying them out.

Comment: I have never in my life bought a recipe book without an index or table of contents until this one. The drinks are not even in alphabetical order! I did not notice this when I first bought this book and browsed the different margarita recipes. However, when I decided days later to look up the recipe for a raspberry margarita I noticed the book did not have an index, a table of contents and was not in alphabetical order. What insanity! I had to hunt for the recipe. Unless you are into trying unusual concoctions like Avocado-Cilantro or Cherimoya or Blood Orange Margaritas, I recommend that you skip this book. I bought The Bartender's Black Book [$12.95 for 8th edition on Amazon] and am very pleased with it. It has over a dozen different popular Margarita recipes along with many other drink recipes and helpful drink making instructions/tips. It has a total of over 2,700 drink recipes AND the drink recipes are in alphabetical order.
